It's a modified version of something I found online, but the premise is simple. Account for every dollar you make each month.
Even if it's frivolous funds for blowing at restaurants or shopping, tell the money where it's going before you start spending. Have a game plan.
You'll be amazed at how much you can save when you plan ahead.
